Alex Pfoff began spending his summers in Alaskas Cook Inlet in 2000 working as a general laborer for an oil & gas work camp. He became acquainted with the fishing community in the small camp, and quickly came to also work as a deck hand, learning the ropes of commercial set netting. In the midst of his first years fishing, he decided to follow his heart and change his college degree to Marine and Freshwater Biology. A decade later, he is in the same camp, except that now as a commercial set net permit holder and catcher-exporter license holder. During the off-season, when Alex is not out chasing salmon, he is employed in other fisheries of the Pacific Northwest, collecting biological data for stock assessments, which provide the information needed to manage populations for continued stability. Alex's set net operation is a very small one by Alaska standards, making it easy for his crew to take special care of each fish caught, being careful not to bruise meat, bleeding and chilling fish immediately upon capture. The fish is also not handled by their tails, which allows spinal fluids to escape into the fillet meat. The result is a higher quality product for the consumer, which is why they can guarantee your satisfaction.
