Handy Seafood is America’s oldest seafood processor, consistently maintaining the highest quality industry standards since 1894. From its first small plant in Crisfield to its current global presence, the family-owned company continues to focus on authenticity, quality, and transparency.

Known primarily for fresh crabmeat and inventive value-added products, Handy Seafood can be found worldwide under its original brand name as well as its Crab House and Handy Gastropub Collection. Marrying expertise with innovation, one of Handy Seafood’s main claims to fame is its creation of the world's first certified gluten-free crab cake. Sourcing seafood from the U.S. Atlantic and Thailand, Handy Seafood prides itself on maintaining close control of every aspect of the supply chain, from sourcing to production. As an HACCP certified processing facility, the business is inspected annually by an independent auditing firm ensuring that its products are produced safely and maintain the utmost quality.

Committed to operating and sourcing its seafood sustainably, Handy Seafood is a founding member of the National Fisheries Institute (NFI) Crab Council. As an NFI Crab Council leader, the company work closely with suppliers and processors abroad to establish and execute on Fisheries Improvement Plans (FIPs) to improve the sustainability of the fisheries. The Council works with members of the blue swimming crab industry to work collaboratively throughout the industry to develop and implement FIPs, while also instilling sustainable practices through education, policy, and advocacy. In addition to its work with NFI, Handy Seafood has also been instrumental in helping the Mangrove Conservation Center replace global habitat loss caused by shrimp farming.
