JCS Fish is an award-winning family business specialising in fresh, frozen and smoked salmon and based in Grimsby, the UK’s seafood hub.
Our founders, Andrew and Louise Coulbeck, both have deep roots in the fish industry - Andy has been in seafood since the age of 16. He learnt the salmon business early in his career by working with renowned local salmon expert, Jack Carlisle Smith. When he and Louise came to set up their new business in 2000, they named it JCS Fish in honour of Andy’s mentor.
Today, JCS Fish is well established and growing fast, with a network of major customers in both foodservice and retail. We have also established our own retail salmon brand, BigFish™ which is sold in independent retailers and farm shops across the UK as well as online.
We are extremely proud of our focus on quality and responsibility. JCS Fish buys direct from carefully selected suppliers, mostly in Scotland, and insists on the highest ethical standards in terms of care for the environment, animal welfare and the people and communities that grow our fish. Our factory is BRC AA-Grade accredited and certified to Organic Food Federation standards. We have our own on-site smokehouse, also accredited for Organic production.
We are a chain of custody supplier within the GlobalG.A.P. (GGN) and Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) programmes for sustainable aquaculture practice and were the first company in the UK to commit to GGN-certified salmon for a brand. We make all our sourcing transparent through the Ocean Disclosure Project (ODP) website.
And we are still very much a family business. Louise and Andrew’s son, Jack Coulbeck joined the business a few years ago together with fiancé, Rosie Knight. As we enjoy our 20th year, we are delighted to be growing in the great tradition of independent family business: with teamwork and respect for the individual contributions of every person who works with us.
