Founded by Thomas Kraft in 1987, Honolulu-based Norpac Fisheries Export (Norpac) provides seafood that exceeds industry standards for Accountability, Responsibility, Traceability and Sustainability (we call this the "ARTS" in seafood).

Our food safety and quality assurance programs adhere to the highest principals, exceeding industry standards. We have been the industry leader in full transparency through electronic traceability since 2004, and our Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs) have become a gold standard for industry-led FIPs. We established our Micronesia tuna fishery as the world's first Marine Stewardship Council (MSC)-certified sustainable yellowfin and bigeye longline tuna fishery, through our 8-year effort with the first industry led tuna FIPs. Our Marshall Island tuna FIP is in full MSC Assessment for MSC sustainable fishery certification.

Further, we worked with The Nature Conservancy Indonesia to develop an industry leading snapper/grouper FIP, which uses our electronic traceability system to help develop a data rich environment for scientific fishery management, which is now being embraced by the Indonesian Government. A tremendous shift in fishery policy that will help drive their fisheries to sustainable development. We were also founders in the Vietnam tuna FIP, working with the WWF and government to drive better practices in that fishery. Although not fully embracing our concept of Gold Standard FIP practices, we continue to encourage development of this FIP through engagement with industry in Vietnam.

We are helping other fisheries move toward sustainability in numerous countries, whether we are involved as buyers, or as industry supporting the artisanal fisheries in developing better practices that support sustainable fisheries. Our mission is to provide exception quality seafood that is responsibly harvested, culturally supportive, and socially responsible.
